India Retain Top Spot in ICC Men’s ODI Rankings as South Africa Break Into Top Four
India retained the top position in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings with 118 points despite a slight decline in ratings. New Zealand and Australia remain second and third respectively, while South Africa climbed into the top four after overtaking Pakistan in the annual ICC rankings update.
The Indian team now hold 118 rating points after slipping by a single point in the updated rankings. However, they continue to lead the table ahead of second-placed New Zealand, who are on 113 points, while Australia remain third with 109 points.
The annual rankings update assigns full weightage to matches played since May 2025, while fixtures from the preceding two years are counted at 50 percent weightage. The revision has resulted in minor shifts across the standings, with several teams gaining crucial positions.
South Africa emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the update. The Proteas climbed into fourth place with 102 points, overtaking Pakistan, who dropped to fifth with 98 points.
The remainder of the top 10 rankings remained unchanged. Sri Lanka are placed sixth with 96 points, followed by Afghanistan on 93 points and England in eighth place with 89 points.
Bangladesh continue to occupy the ninth position with 84 points. The West Indies remain 10th with 74 points and now trail Bangladesh by 10 points, compared to a six-point gap before the latest update.
Outside the top 10, Ireland moved ahead of Zimbabwe to secure 11th place with 54 points, while Zimbabwe slipped to 12th with 53 points. The United States also registered progress in the rankings, climbing to 13th position with 46 points and overtaking Scotland, who now have 44 points. The United Arab Emirates also gained ground, rising to 19th place after surpassing Canada with 16 points.
The latest ICC Men’s ODI Rankings underline the growing competitiveness in international cricket, with only narrow margins separating several teams across the standings. India’s continued hold on the top position reinforces their consistency in the format, while South Africa’s rise into the top four signals a significant shift in the global ODI landscape.
